Karim Rashid
For the longest time design only existed for the elite and for a small insular culture. I have worked hard for the last 20 years, trying to make design a public focus.
Karim Rashid was born in Cairo, raised in Canada and now works in New York. He is famed for his 'democratic' design, and for bringing design to the attention of the general public. He has designed for an impressive array of clients. At the moment he has around 2,000 items in production, and has successfully earned himself a name in the world of architecture and interior design. His works feature in 14 permanent collections in museums all over the world, including the MoMA and SFMOMA, and in various other galleries. Karim was also Professor of industrial design for 10 years, and still holds lectures and conferences at many universities throughout the world.
